About St. Paul's

Welcome to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, at the corner of 16th and Market in Wilmington, North Carolina. We are a community called to Worship, Welcome, and Witness. Our worship is rooted in the beauty of the Episcopal tradition, with meaningful liturgy, sacred music, Christ-centered preaching, and people of all generations gathered together. Our welcome is woven into who we are, reflecting a spirit of hospitality that has been part of St. Paul’s since our founding in 1858. And our witness extends beyond our doors as we serve alongside community partners and seek to share the grace and love of Christ in our daily lives. Wherever you are on your journey, we invite you to come experience the worship, welcome, and life of St. Paul’s.

Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We follow Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection reveal God’s saving love for the world. Scripture, tradition, and reason shape our common life, and the Book of Common Prayer gives form to our worship.​The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our tradition is ancient and sacramental, yet open to thoughtful questions. Laypeople and clergy share leadership, and we aspire to make God’s love known to every person. We believe that God loves you - no exceptions. If words such as Eucharist, nave, or diocese are new to you, please ask. Eucharist means Communion; the nave is the main worship space; and a diocese is a regional family of Episcopal congregations led by a bishop.

The Reverend Caleb J. Lee

Rector

The Reverend Caleb J. Lee has served as Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wilmington since 2021. A native of Eastern North Carolina, he is dedicated to spiritual renewal, inclusive ministry, and strengthening the parish's vibrant traditions.

The Reverend Deacon Nick Kohlmann

Curate

The Reverend Deacon Nick Kohlmann joined St. Paul's as Curate in 2026. A lifelong member of the Diocese of East Carolina, he is passionate about pastoral ministry, Scripture, prayer, and helping others know Christ and grow in faith.
